What is a drone you’re asking? Well for those who have been stumbling through 2014 with their eyes closed, they’re a nifty little aerial remote controlled device giving you amazing aerial imagery and a birds eye view of just about anything you want to capture.
Filming using a remote controlled drone is becoming more and more popular with videographers and photographers from all different industries. They're using drones to give a stunning aerial footage at a fraction of the price it would normally cost using a helicopter. Drones can give the viewer a unique perspective that would otherwise be impossible to get.
So what might Event Planners use a drone for?
Filming a crowd
If you’re planning an event that has a live performance some of the coolest pictures from these events are pictures of the large crowds in attendance. By having a drone you can show how popular your event was, how large it was and what type of people were at your event.
Capture close ups
Getting up close and personal whether it’s a band, DJ or a product unveiling is one the biggest draw cards to get people at your event. Capturing these performances close up with a drone will give you great marketing material and an edge over your competition.
How much would you expect to pay for this bird’s eye service? Not as much as you might think. Many drone operators will charge around $250-$550 per hour for event work, however check with your drone operator as it can often increase depending on your event circumstances and how complicated the job is.
There are plenty of ways event planners can use this cool new technology to film amazing footage at their event.
