The food van revolution is back; actually it never really went away. I did a blog on food vans years ago, way back in 2013 (now that seems eons ago) and they were all the rage back then.

With this blog I really want to reiterate budget brides have to have these cool food vans at your wedding, serving home cooked, seriously delicious gourmet food for a fraction of the price you would normally pay for catering at a wedding.

And they are just so cool and unique. Who wants traditional, fish, beef and chicken when you can have some hot little chef wearing his uber cool denim chef apparel making gourmet, burgers, tacos, or even a hog roast?

Brides on a budget check out these five seriously delicious food van ideas.

Siguenos

Inspired by LA’s bustling food truck culture, this trendy mobile eatery has local foodies hot on its tail. Translating to “follow us” in Spanish, that’s exactly what Siguenos customers do as they weave their way around the Coast hunting for their next serving of delicious tacos. Tacos are their speciality — choose from grilled fish, chipotle marinated beef, black beans or Yucatán spiced chicken wrapped in a corn tortilla.

The Wiener Haus

Behind the wheel of this food truck you’ll find the friendly faces of Paddy Skicko and Jesse Garlick. The good mates launched their gourmet hot dog van a year ago and have made a name for themselves by serving up a new take on the traditional hot dog — with a side of saucy wiener humour. From a grilled bratwurst to a cheese kransky, The Wiener Haus offer a choice of authentic German sausages with four flavour options: mustard and pickles, Mexican, bacon and pineapple or traditional with sauerkraut.

Classic Ice Creams

Nothing screams childhood memories like ice cream. The strains of Greensleeves tinkling out of a bright ice cream truck is bound to be nostalgic for any Aussie kid. Using fully restored 1960s former Mr Whippy vans, which were imported from the UK, Classic Ice Creams trucks are a blast from the past. Traditional soft-serve vanilla ice creams are bound to bring you back to the halcyon days of your youth. Classic Ice Creams come sprinkled in nuts, dipped in chocolate or layered with sherbet or sprinkles.

Chubby’s Diner

Wheeling and dealing American style cuisine, Chubby’s Diner owner Jason Steele knows good food. Operating from a retro-style caravan that serves up sliders and smoked food, the local chef visits markets and events around the Gold Coast.

Lola and The Chef

With an extensive menu suited to everything from proposal dinners to birthdays and weddings, Lola and the Chef is fine dining at its best.
